The G3 was launched in Indonesia in conjunction with a seminar on practical implementation of corporate sustainability (CSR) and reporting.

Over 200 interested participants from the private and public sectors participated in the international event in Jakarta’s hotel Borobudur on February 28, 2007.

The seminar was organised by the Indonesian Institute of Accountants and the Indonesian-Netherlands Association.

Ernst Lichteringen, Chief Executive from GRI, was impressive in outlining the importance of sustainability as a business principle and explained the new elements of the G3 reporting standards. In more practically oriented sessions, Michael Betz and Johannes Gediga explained the steps towards implementation and measurement of sustainability reporting and performance measurement. Practical insights into the status of CSR in Indonesia came from industry, including contributions by GE tech Indonesia, represented by Ms Hermien Sarengat, Mr Rudi Fajar from PT Riau Pulp Paper and Arief Istanto from SESR, PT Astra International.

The event was an important milestone in the dissemination of sustainability reporting in Indonesia and will be followed by an international conference in Bali later this year.
