“In the context of bio-energy promotion, the question rises whether the introduction of annual energy crops in crop rotations or the production of perennial energy crops are adequate options compared to conventional food crops to reduce the risk of nitrate leaching as well as to reduce fossil energy demand, greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts.”
The final report of a joint research project funded by the German Badenova AG in cooperation with PE INTERNATIONAL on the energy production (power and heat) from agricultural biomass and its implications on agriculture and environment is now released. Additional tables and figures are compiled in an annex. Unfortunately, both documents are only available in German language.
